Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry

The Second Harvest mobile food pantry will distribute food from 212 Main Street in Gays Mills on Wednesday, May 24th.  Registration begins at 1:30.  Food will be distributed from 2 to 3 p.m. or whenever the food runs out, whichever comes first. Patrons must need food assistance but, unlike most local food pantries, are not required to meet income guidelines.  Each household receives about sixty pounds of food generally including some meat, canned or pouched vegetables, bread products, and fresh produce.  Patrons should bring sturdy boxes or bags to carry food from the building. Volunteers often are available to help move food to patron’s vehicles. In April, the Gays Mills mobile pantry served 149 households from eighteen communities in four counties.  One hundred twenty seniors and 97 children benefited from the food distribution.  Twenty-four households received food from the pantry for the first time.
