Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry

The Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will have monthly food distributions from 212 Main Street in Gays Mills over the summer. Distribution dates are the fourth Wednesday of each month: May 25, June 22, July 27, August 24, and September 28. Food will be distributed from 2 to 3 p.m. on those dates.

Food allocations are available to families who self-identify as needing food assistance. No income guidelines need be met and no identification is required. The sign-in volunteer will ask recipients for the number of people in the household, including children and seniors, the name of the post office that delivers their mail, and, for Second Harvest’s research purposes, whether their income is above or below 185% of the federal poverty level.

Food allocations generally include a variety of fresh or preserved fruits and vegetables, meats, staples such as noodles, rice or beans, and breads. Roughly 60 to 70 pounds of food is included in each allocation.

If prospective clients cannot attend the Mobile Pantry themselves, they may provide a friend or family member with a note including the necessary registration information and have that person pick up their allocation.
