October Mobile Food Pantry

The Second Harvest mobile food pantry will be at 212 Main Street in Gays Mills on Wednesday October 26th. Patron registration will begin at 1:30. Food distribution will run from 2 to 3 p.m. Each month the mobile pantry provides about 60 pounds of diverse food products to households that self-identify as needing food assistance. People picking up an allotment for someone else must bring a written note indicating the total number of people in the receiving household, the number of children, the number of residents over 60 years of age, the name of the post office that delivers their mail, and
whether the household is above or below 185% of the federal poverty line.
Patrons are encouraged to bring sturdy containers to carry their food. Those needing a box from Second Harvest should wait until they are at the front of the line to get a box. In September, the mobile pantry provided food to 305 people in 142 households. Seventy-two children and 109 seniors reside in those households. Patrons came from eighteen communities in four counties.
If you have questions regarding the mobile pantry, please call Lorraine (608-735- 4690) or Cindy (608-872- 2184). To volunteer, just show up at 212 Main Street in Gays Mills around 1:00 on mobile pantry days.
