Title 1

What is Title I?

Title I is a federal program that provides funds to school districts with high percentages of children who are disadvantaged in order to support a variety of services. The overall purpose of Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education.

At the Seneca School District, Title I is considered a Schoolwide Program. To be classified as Schoolwide, the poverty level must be at or above 40%. Schoolwide Programs serve all children in a school. All staff, resources, and classes are a part of the Schoolwide Program. The purpose of a Schoolwide Program is to generate high levels of academic achievement in core subject areas for all students, especially those students in most need.
